West Feliciana Hospital first opened its doors in 1970 to serve local residents with their health care needs. Since that time, the hospital has evolved into a high-quality emergency hospital with a 19-acre medical campus that offers a wide variety of specialty services and the latest diagnostic and monitoring equipment in healthcare, including:
• EMS/Ambulance Services
• Family Practice
• Internal Medicine
• In-patient Overnight Care
• Lab Services
• Mental Wellness
• Outpatient Services
• Physical Therapy
• Primary Care
• Wellness Care
West Feliciana Hospital is classified as a critical access hospital; 100% of critical access hospitals in Louisiana receive tax assistance from their communities. Funding from two one-half cent sales taxes make up nearly 12% of the hospital’s operating budget and is primarily used to cover the cost of EMS/Ambulance Services.
The hospital’s EMS serves more than 10,000 residents, responding to nearly 2,000 call outs per year.
Better care and better service has allowed West Feliciana Hospital to grow its patient revenue over the past 10 years, greatly improving the hospital’s financial well being and allowing the hospital to share a small portion of its local tax-based revenue with the parish to help pay for much-needed infrastructure projects.
However, the hospital still needs the majority of the funding gained from local sales taxes to continue to provide essential services, such as 24-Hour/7 Days-A-Week EMS/Ambulance Services.
